Our Impact in Numbers

Get to know who we are, what we do, and how MODHIP operates across Nigeria and beyond.
MODHIP stands for the Ministry of Defence Health Implementation Programme. It was launched in 2005 through a partnership between the Nigerian Ministry of Defence and the United States Department of Defense (USDoD) under PEPFAR. The program was initially focused on HIV/AIDS but has expanded to include tuberculosis, malaria, and other diseases of public health importance—serving both military and civilian populations.
MODHIP provides healthcare services to:
– Armed Forces personnel
– Military dependents and families
– Civilian communities around military health zones
More than 80% of our beneficiaries are civilians, demonstrating its broader national health impact.
MODHIP delivers a wide range of integrated health services, including:
– HIV prevention, testing, and treatment
– Tuberculosis and malaria management
– Maternal and child health services (including PMTCT)
– Advanced laboratory diagnostics and clinical research
– Emergency infectious disease response
– Health systems improvement and capacity building
MODHIP currently operates 43 facilities nationwide:
– 33 Comprehensive ART Sites: Offer full HIV care, treatment, and lab services.
– 10 Satellite Sites: Provide HIV testing, TB care, and PMTCT support—connected to ART sites for referrals.
These facilities span Nigeria’s geopolitical zones, supporting both military and civilian populations.
Yes. MODHIP provides all its services—HIV care, TB and malaria treatment, PMTCT, and lab diagnostics—completely free to both military and civilian beneficiaries. The program is funded by strategic partnerships such as PEPFAR and the USDoD, ensuring high-quality care at no cost to clients.
