Brigadier General Idris Babatunde Solebo is an internationally acclaimed Chief Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist and Minimal Access (Laparoscopic) Surgeon, an avid researcher, and a creative and innovative administrator. He has a limitless passion for self-development, constantly seeking ways to confront and overcome seemingly impossible challenges.

General Solebo obtained a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) Degree from the College of Medicine of the University of Lagos. He subsequently departed for the United Kingdom for specialist medical training in Obstetrics and Gynecology. While in the UK, he completed a Master of Science programme in Reproductive and Sexual Health Research (RSHR) at the University of London and obtained a Diploma from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM). This was followed by the Membership of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (MRCOG) and a Diploma from the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Health (DFSRH) of the College. His academic sojourn in the UK culminated in the award of the prestigious Completion of Certificate of Training (CCT). He is an alumnus of the London Business School’(LBS) Executive Masters of Business Administration and is a Fellow of the African Institute of Public Health Professionals. He has the military decorations of the Corps Medal of Honour (CMH), Meritorious Service Star (MSS) and Force Service Star (FSS).

General Solebo joined the Nigerian Army Medical Corps (NAMC) as a member of Direct Regular Course 10. He attended the Young Officers Course, as well as the Senior Executive Management Course for Medical Officers where he emerged overall best student. Since his commissioning, he has acquired vast experiences in clinical, administrative and management roles. He has served in the Nigerian Army School of Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, Auchi, 35 Battalion Medical Reception Station Katsina, 13 Brigade Medical Centre Calabar, Military Hospital Lagos, among others. He was the 33rd Corps Commander Medical (CCM) of the Nigerian Army Medical Corps (NAMC) from 2020 to 2023. During his tenure as CCM, the NAMC secured the prestigious formal approval for Nigerian Army College of Nursing (NACON) candidates to be awarded a BSc in Nursing through affiliation with the University of Lagos. Also, the NAMC fully inaugurated an on-stream postgraduate medical training in Five Clinical Specialties at Nigerian Army tertiary hospitals. Before his appointment as the DG MODHIP, he was the Deputy Director of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder at the Nigerian Army Heritage and Future Center.
